I continue work playing with a birdseye view of landscape in its many aspects, combining details remembered, observed and imagined of specific locations initially notated on small notebook pages. These become elements for stylized renderings in large and medium sized formats which echo many artistic traditions. Most notable being from my love of Chinese and Japanese compositional ideas and perspective. Other important references are to early American folk art and to the Luminist and Hudson River schools of painting.

I hone in on discovering and illuminating the exquisite color combinations and infinite lighting and design possibilities that present themselves in my paintings of tabletop and random flower arrangements.
